Two day seminar begins at SMVDU | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Oct 9: A joint seminar is being organized by School of Business, Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University and the Board of Studies, Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) on "Accountancy and Commerce Education in India: Contemporary issues and Challenges" at Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University. According to press release, the two day-long seminar is being hosted by Jammu & Kashmir Branch of ICAI. CA. Amarjit Chopra, Past President, ICAI and Chairman, National Advisory Committee on Accounting Standards (NACAS) was the chief guest and Prof. Sudhir K. Jain, Vice Chancellor Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University was the Guest of Honor. Nationally renowned tax expert and academician Dr. (CA.) Girish Ahuja was one of the dignitaries present on the occasion as a resource person. While speaking on the occasion CA. Amarjit Chopra commented that "the rapidly changing business environment has generated the need to realign the Indian Accounting Standards with the International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS ) and the students as well as practioners of accounting should carefully understand the intricacies of accounting technicalities like Related Party Transactions and Transfer Pricing. He emphasised the acute shortage of Certified Actuaries professional in the country and motivated the students to pursue it as a career choice.The seminar was attended by over 100 participants including Faculty members, Research scholars, MBA students, Post Graduate Students of Accountancy & Commerce, Chartered Accountants and bankers from nearby region.CA Vikram Garg, Chairman and CA. Shalay Razdhan, Secretary, J&K branch of ICAI were the Members of seminar organizing committee. |
