`High Command has made party personal fiefdom'
Mahajan shakes JKPCC

JAMMU, Oct 9: In a major setback to Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC), senior leader and Organizing Secretary of the state unit, Vinod Mahajan, resigned from the primary membership of the party. He tendered his resignation as member, State Pahari Advisory Board with immediate effect.
Launching a scathing attack on Congress High Command and state leadership, the senior leader Vinod Mahajan while speaking to Early Times said that he was feeling suffocated in the party for quite some time now primarily due to the arbitrary decisions being taken by the top brass of the party.
"I was forced to take such a harsh decision to quit Congress…AICC President Sonia Gandhi, PCC chief Saif-ud-Din Soz and senior leader Ghulam Nabi Azad's indifferent attitude towards party cadre and supporters who always stood behind Congress all through these years has compelled me to leave that party which I served with sincerity for about 40 years," said Mahajan.
Mincing no words while expressing his annoyance against the party leadership, Mahajan angrily said that the top leaders have made the party their personal fiefdom as they are using it only for their own benefits while for them the dedicated party workers are not a priority.
"The hierarchy in the party is misusing powers for self interests… The party has lost its original identity and has become a hub of groupism in J&K… The state leadership has no time for the time tested and devoted party workers," he said.
"The party cadres' sincerity and loyalty is hardly been recognized….They only get humiliation and disregard in return within the party… There is barely any leader in the state Congress who could inspire the demoralized rank and file of the party after the crushing defeat in the Lok Sabha polls," he added.
Peeved over the functioning of the Congress, Mahajan said that he is leaving the party with a heavy heart as there was no other option left for him to choose other than saying goodbye to the party which he served for decades.
"I was badly hurt over the way organization is being run presently and the humiliation I was facing for the past some time…It is painful but I cannot bear this disgrace further more... I have no choice rather than to resign from the active membership of the party," said Mahajan.
When asked about his future course of action, Mahajan though not divulged much but admitted that he would join some other party in near future but only after discussing it with his close associates.
"Definitely some feelers are coming my way from some political parties but I have not yet made up my mind…First and foremost, I would like to consult my friends and well wishers before taking any decision on joining a party," he said.
However, a close acquaintance of Mahajan wishing anonymity told Early Times that he may join People’s Democratic Party (PDP) since ideologically this party suits him the most.
A prominent leader from Rajouri district, Mahajan held the post of Rajouri District Congress Committee President for 13 long years besides he also had a stint as Chairman of Rajouri Municipality.
He also acted as a Congress Observer for Jammu-Poonch Parliamentary seat for the Lok Sabha elections of 2009 and 2014.
It is worthwhile to mention here that "Early Times" in its edition of October 9, 2014 has already indicated that a group of leaders in State Congress are annoyed with the leadership and are planning to leave the party while a senior leader is almost certain to quit Congress within couple of days which proved true today.
