Jammu, Oct 9: Three days after a strong windstorm hit parts of Jammu, the PDD failed to restore power in all the affected areas The storm caused by western disturbance created havoc across Jammu province, inflicting massive damage to infrastructure of power development department, nearly 60 poles of high tension r suffered damage in Gandhi Nagar area alone and 55 low tension wires in various areas were damaged. The PDD claimed 80 percent power restoration restored, but people strongly contest this claim. Bimla Devi, who lives in outskirts of Jammu said, today is the third day, the power supply is not restored and it has indirectly affected on our water supply also .She contested the claims of PDD Roshan Lal, a resident of Bohri said, they are without power since October 7 evening. "There is no power and no water in our area. No doubt, there was damage to power infrastructure, but there is crisis management group which is ready to face any eventuality," he said. Another person, a shopkeeper in Gandhi Nagar, said that he is not able to work in the shop as there is no power since 7 October, and PDD though claiming of restored power in entire Jammu is not true. There are several areas in Jammu which have plunged into darkness. The Chief Engineer was not available for comment. |
