Early Times Report

Rajouri, Oct 9: Inhabitants of Ghambhir Mughlan in Manjakot, who were the worst sufferer during recent natural calamity, have alleged that they are being ignored by the district administration as well as by the State Government and are forced to live in an open.
Many among these flash flood victims have also alleged that the government has announced free ration for six months for such families but even for the first month ration is not available at government fair price shops.
During initial days of flood furry packets of some necessary essential commodities including ration, milk and blankets were air dropped by the DDC and SSP at an army camp in the area for further distribution among the flash flood victims.
But the people refused to accept the help alleging that the material dropped was not sufficient for all the victims. Mohd Iqbal, Said Mohd and many others alleged that except some revenue officials came to their areas to assess the losses to the houses and after that no relief was sent to them by the district administration.
These victims also said that the winter season has started and many among them are living in open and most of their children and women are suffering from various diseases caused due to severe cold waves.
They warned the administration that if the relief was not sent to them within in next few days they will be force to organise protest demonstration before the office of DDC at Rajouri.
Meanwhile actual victims of flash floods in Sunderbani tehsil have alleged that the name of many fake beneficiaries have been figured in the lists prepared by the administration for free ration distribution. They said that the revenue officials have added the names of many of their blue eyed persons while the actual benefices have been ignored. They appealed to the Deputy Commissioner to look into the matter and direct the concerned officials to delete the names of fake victims. Similarly victims in Nowshera tehsil have also alleged that many among them have either been living with their relatives or in the open. "Nobody from civil administration has contacted them with official relief. We are facing many difficulties in preparing food or to send our children to schools as they are finding very hard to accommodate their family members in the small tents prepared by them in the open places", said KamlaDevi of Hanjana.
