| P&GB Hostel (Girls) boarders stage protest over closure of hostels | | |  Early Times Report
Rajouri, Dec 24: Alleging that the hostels were closed by the authorities during election process, the Girls boarders of Pahari and Gujjar Bakerwal (P&GB) Hostels today held protest at Government Girls Middle School Rajouri and said that they had suffered a lot due to closure of hostels for past few days.
Girl boarders who are the living in these hostels held protest against the authorities and said that the hostels are closed since December 13. These girls demanded investigation in this matter and also demanded action against those who are responsible for closure of hostels.
These girls who belongs to below poverty line (BPL) families and getting free education, lodging and boarding in these hostels facing many difficulties in attending their classes in the absence of financial assistance . Shahnawaz Khan, headmaster of the school admitted that those girls who are living in these hotels rarely attended their classes during this (polling) period.
When contacted by the media persons Saleem Malik , Additional DC (ADC) Rajouri said that the matter has also been brought to his notice.
"No authority can close these hostels even during election process. Action will be taken against responsible persons. In this connection Chief Education Officer (CEO) Rajouri too has been directed to investigate the matter and to submit report within three days" he added.
Pertinent to mention that these hostels have been started to provided free education, lodging and boarding to the girls of those families who can't afford education at their own and also living in far flung areas. |
