12/24/2014 11:44:53 PM
Early Times Report
RAJOURI, Dec 24: Ex-BJP district head Yogesh Sharma, who contested Assembly polls from Rajouri as an Independent candidate, has alleged that at the behest of some local BJP leaders, miscreants had on Tuesday thrown some explosive material, may be of high intensity crackers inside his house.
In a written complaint made with Rajouri police in this regard, he alleged that it was the handiwork of some BJP activists. The district administration would be responsible for any mishapping with him or with his family members, he said.
Rajouri police post incharge Mohammad Sharief said that after the complaint was received, some suspects were rounded up for questioning.
Talking to reporters, Yogesh said he contested as an Independent candidate because he wanted to ensure the defeat of BJP candidate from Rajouri.
"Local BJP leaders were over confident for the victory of party candidate Talib Hussain but they are now very upset and have been making me responsible for his defeat," he said and added if police failed to take action, he along with his supporters would launch an agitation.
He said a placard carrying his photo and inflammatory remarks was also kept at the gate of his house which was also handed over to the police.
BJP's state vice-president Vibodh Gupta categorically denied the allegation of Yogesh and said that he was upset over his disqualification from the party.
He said that let the police investigate the matter and those responsible must be tried under law.
Meanwhile, a Muslim BJP activist was alleged to have committed suicide following the defeat of Talib Hussain.
The incident was said to have taken place at Dara under the jurisdiction of Thannamandi police station on Tuesday. The deceased was identified as 40-year-old Mohammad Qasim, son of Mohammad Din.
Police have started inquest proceeding in the case under section 174 of CrPC.
"Police are investigating the matter from all angles and final decision will be taken only after police investigation is over and post-mortem report is made available," said SSP Haseeb Mughal.
