Pak rangers violate ceasefire in Kathua | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Dec 24: A day after the declaration of J&K assembly poll results, the Pakistani rangers resorted to an unprovoked mortar firing on Tuesday in Kathua district of Jammu and Kashmir. The firing by the Pakistan rangers was retaliated to in equal measures by the Border Security Force personnel deployed at the international border. A BSF official said that Pakistani Rangers openly violated the ceasefire by resorting firing using small arms and mortar shelling in forward areas in Pansar border outpost belt of Hiranagar sub-sector in the afternoon. The intermittent exchange of firing continued for over two hours till 3.30 pm, further said the official adding that there was no loss of life or injury to anyone in the firing and shelling. It may be mentioned here that the Pakistan troops had targeted border areas throughout August this year and for over 15 days in October, killing 11 people and leaving over 100 injured. |
