People Democratic Party makes inroads in Srinagar | NC fast losing its strong bastion | | Sandeep Bhat
Early Times Report
jammu, Dec 25: Believe it or not, national conference which had strong base in Srinagar has been fast loosing grip on the people of Srinagar city and this time Peoples Democratic Party made inroads almost in every part of Srinagar and captured 5 assembly segments including Amirakadal, Hazratbal, sonwar, Batmaloo, Zadibal and came on number 2 in other constituencies. The people of Srinagar have given strong signals to NC. In the past, NC always depended on Srinagar but this year in Parliament elections as well as now in assembly elections, NC has tasted defeat in its strong hold. Talking to Early Times, senior PDP leader said that it is a good signal for the party that in Srinagar people have started realizing that PDP alone can solve problems of the people and NC has always taken people of Srinagar for granted. This time, people have rejected its hegemony particularly in Srinagar and it is now our duty to come on the expectations of the people of Srinagar which have posed a faith on our party and leadership. Junaid, NC leader while talking to Early Times said that our party has to take remedial measures and to introspect to see what went wrong in Srinagar where NC had a strong base. Out of 8 assembly segments, our party just got 3. It is a matter of grave concern. In its statement, Omar Abdullah who lost Sonwar seat said that we struggled in Srinagar and managed to get at least 3 seats . It is pertinent to mention here that PDP which had strong base in rural areas now has made entry in Srinagar areas and in last Parliamentary elections, Tariq Hameed Karra of PDP defeated Farooq Abdullah of NC. |
