Jammu, Dec 27: Special judge, anti-corruption, Jammu, Sanjay Dhar today awarded two years' rigorous imprisonment to judicial clerk Kuber Singh and naib court Bishan Dass, then posted in Jammu Tehsildar's office, who were caught red-handed by Vigilance Organisation, Jammu (VOJ). The raid was carried out by VOJ on the written complaint of Bua Ditta of Rajpura Mandi, Panchyat Panjore on September 23, 2005. In the complaint, he alleged that Dass (Selection Grade cop) demanded bribe from him for closure of subjudice case pending against him and his relatives in the court of Naib-Tehsildar, Jammu, under section 107/117 of CrPC. On this, VOJ laid a trap and caught both the accused red-handed while accepting a bribe of Rs 2,500. The special judge, anti-corruption, after hearing the two sides, observed that both the accused, who were supposed to be vested with virtues of honesty and integrity, made their crime all the more serious. With this observation, he he awarded them two years' rigorous imprisonment. A fine of Rs 50,000 was also imposed on them. |
