Azad's dream won't come true: BJP | 'We will form next government within few days' | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Dec 27: A day after senior Congress leader Ghulam Nabi Azad floated the idea of "grand alliance "" between Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), National Conference and his party, to form the next government in Jammu and Kashmir, Bharatiya Janta Party today ridiculed Azad saying, "It would not allow the grand alliance to take shape." The right wing party which won 25 seats in the 87-member assembly claimed it would form government in next few days. "Azad's dream to be a part of the next government will not come true. Without BJP no government is possible in Jammu and Kashmir. We have received the letter from the state Governor about the government formation in the state. Our dispensation will be in place within a few days. We are finalizing the modalities and the new government will start functioning very shortly," BJP's Member Parliament and JK affairs in-charge Avinash Rai Khanna said. Another BJP leader said, "We are in touch with many people and are exploring the possibilities of forging a tie up so that a stable government is put in place. I am sure that within a few days there will be formal announcement about new government." A senior BJP leader, wishing not to be named, said: "See some deliberations were held between NC and BJP but due to some reasons two parties couldn't reach on consensus. Now party (BJP) is exploring options with PDP," he claimed. He said that the ball is now in the PDP's court and BJP is waiting for it to take a final call. "There is already some headway and some big developments have take place in this regard," he said. Meanwhile, sources said that BJP leadership in New Delhi has decided not to touch the issue of Article 370 at this crucial juncture. "We have been directed to ignore this issue for time being," a senior state BJP leader said. Sources said that BJP President Amit Shah after holding hectic deliberations over government formation in JK with Prime Minister Narendra Modi and senior party leaders has authorized Ram Madhav to speak to media over the issue and has directed BJP leaders not to comment without the permission of the party high command. |
