Kathua, Jan 11: Motor Vehicle Department (MVD) Kathua in collaboration with J& K Traffic police organized a rally in connection with 26thRoad safety week 2015 here at Kathua today. The rally was flagged off by Deputy Commissioner Kathua, Dr. Shahid Iqbal while RTO Lakhanpur, Mohd Nazir Sheikh , ARTO Kathua, Salim Manhas were also present on the occasion. While addressing the participants, Deputy Commissioner Kathua Dr. Shahid Iqbal impressed upon them to wear crash helmets and seat belts as a safety measure and follow the traffic rules. Pertinent to mention that the theme of this year road safety week is "Safety is not just a slogan; it's a way of life." The main aim of road safety week is to motivate the people to obey traffic rules and ensure traffic discipline. In this context on the first day of traffic week scooter/ bike rally was organized. In this regard a rally began from the office of RTO Lakhanpur and culminated at PWD guest house Kathua. While interacting to media, RTO Md. Nazir Sheikh informed large number of programmes shall be organized in the week. He informed free medical camp to check up sugar test, Eyes, Blood test, Marathon on Jan 14, Training Programme on jan 15, Documents checking programme shall be conducted throughout. He said department will check fitness certificates, insurance, reliable documents of even government vehicles which violate traffic rules more than civilian. Department will especially focus on government vehicle in addition to civil' vehicles. |
