No developing country can afford to ignore role of women: Kavinder 1/11/2015 11:16:46 PM Early Times Report JAMMU, Jan 11: Development of our country depends on the empowerment of women. A man and a woman are like two wheels of a cart and cart can move fast and safely too, when both of them pull it in the same direction and with equal strength. Hence no developing country or society can afford to ignore the role of women, if they are to progress, said BJP MLA from Gandhi Nagar constituency, Kavinder Gupta while addressing women at Preet Nagar, Ward-55, Barzala, Gangyal, Bhour Camp East on Saturday. Speaking on this occasion, Gupta reminded the gathering of Inspector Shakti Devi of the Jammu and Kashmir Police who has been awarded the International Female Police Peacekeeper Award 2014. Devi has contributed to the improvement of the status of female police and has effectively helped the police of Afghanistan move towards achieving their goals of fully adopting democratic principles of policing. "In addition, her consistent engagement in improving the service for victims of sexual and gender-based violence has led to successful investigation and prosecution. Gupta adding further said that there is no dearth of such courageous and brave women in state and BJP will ensure that they get proper platform to display their talent in their respective fields with their engagements in various schemes launched by Central Govt for their welfare and development in society. Encouraging women to adopt skilled profession, Gupta said that the modern Indian women have honed their skills and jumped into a battlefield of life fighting against social restrictions, emotional ties, religious boundaries and cultural clutches.
