Felling of green gold continues, concrete structure emerging on forest land 8/3/2016 11:22:19 PM M S Nazki Early Times Report Poonch, Aug 3: There has been no let up in felling of green gold in Poonch district and illegal concrete structures are mushrooming in forest land which is evident from the structures appearing in compartment No 170 under Khasra No 41 by some influential people in Pathana Teer of Mendhar in Poonch district According to local reports from area, some influential have been seen encroaching the forest land for the last quite some time and now they are erecting concrete structures upon the encroached lands but authorities concerned are acting like mute spectators. Sources said one Mohd Sadiq son of Mohd Zaman Kahn of Pathana Teer had earlier raised a temporary structure in compartment No 170 under Khasra No 41 of Forest land and when none (from authorities) cared about his moves he later constructed a permanent structure including residential house. They alleged that Mohd Sadiq got his construction works completed without any hassle courtesy alleged active support of revenue officials under the very nose of DFO Range Mendhar. Speaking to Early Times, a senior citizen of the area Shamim Khan said that influentials have been allowed to fell green gold at their whims and thus number of trees have been cut and the concrete structures have replaced the green patches in Mendhar while the authorities concerned are in deep slumber. He and other locals have appealed to the district authorities to wake up before it is too late and get the encroached land vacated at earliest by evicting illegal encroachments in forest land.
