Azad camp asked to stay away from Tara Chand, Mir | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, Aug 3: Following a clear indication from their leader, the Congress faction in Jammu and Kashmir having allegiance with Ghulam Nabi Azad, has started maintaining distance from former Deputy Chief Minister Tara Chand. A clear message in this regard was conveyed during a secret meeting of the group, held at residence of one of the members in Jammu and attended by all the leaders of Azad faction, excluding Tara Chand. In the meeting, sources said, the participants were instructed to avoid Tara Chand and PCC president G A Mir but no specific reason was assigned for the same. On the other hand, the members were asked to be cooperative with senior vice-president of PCC, Sham Lal Sharma, one time vete noire of this faction, sources added. As the former minister and MLA Jugal Kishore Sharma made an announcement in this regard, sources said that former minister and PCC general secretary Manohar Lal Sharma sought to know the reasons for a shift in the alignment as the same was confusing for some members of the camp. However, there was no clarification over shift from Tara Chand to Sham Lal, sources added. Pertinent to mention that Azad's disliking for Tara Chand had recently developed following increasing closeness of the latter with PCC president GA Mir. The Early Times, in one of its reports, had already mentioned that the closeness of Tara Chand and GA Mir would give rise to new alignments in the State unit of Congress. Only a few days back, Azad had refused to meet Tara Chand who kept waiting at New Delhi for over a week seeking appointment. However, on the other hand, Sham Lal Sharma is once again in good books of Ghulam Nabi Azad because of his aggressive leadership qualities and capacity to take on GA Mir, sources explained. |
