JAMMU, Aug 3: Vigilance organization today raided PWD office at Vikas Bhawan and seized record pertaining to recent maintenance and repairing of roads in Jammu city.
Sources told Early Times that record was seized following complaints of use of substandard material by the department.
"Eight officers including seven inspectors headed by a Dy, SP vigilance Jammu raided Vikas Bhawan this morning", sources said, adding that record pertaining to works done two years back by works department, has been seized.
"A joint surprise check (JSC) was constituted by vigilance department, following a complaint of embezzlement of several crore in blacktopping of roads", sources said, adding that the substandard material was used.
"During more than six hour search, the team seized all record related to the blacktopping done in 2014 within the city falls under division I, II and III-division got dilapidated within few months", they added.
"PWD is already under scanner due to corruption and use of substandard material for works being done. It is major setback for those involved in the nexus", they said, further action by the vigilance would be taken after scrutiny of documents.
"Sample of material that was used for blacktopping and repairing of the roads, is already available with state vigilance organization", sources said.
