JKNGEEA organises convention
3/6/2018 11:16:46 PM
Early Times Report

Jammu, Mar 6: State level convention organised by JKNGEEA was organised today at the Forest Information centre Hall at Jammu which was attended by more than 200 delegates representing all wings of PDD/PDC including Engineers and other Unions representatives.
The convention was presided by Freed Ahmad Mir President, Ram Kumar Sharma. While Inaugurating the convention National Secretary All India State Govt. Employees Federation and Gen Secretary JKNGEEA said that the power sector is in serious crises today because of the on-going privatisation and outsourcing policies of the Govt, which is hampering not only the overall development but putting the unbearable burden on the common masses and the working people of this vital industry.
The process of un-bundling and outsourcing in the name of reforms in power sector initiated after the Electricity Act 2003 and J&K Electricity Act 2010 has failed in all most every state where the power losses in the SEBs has gone up from Rs.30000 crores to 5 lac crores during the last 14 years on the one hand and huge profits for the corporate and big contractors like Ambanis, Adanis and Jai Prakashs on the other. Now the GOI has tabled the Electricity amendment Bill 2014 in the parliament through which the right to electricity to the common man will be snatched away and will be completely handed over to the Private players which should be opposed tooth and nail.
The State Govt, while perusing the same anti- people policies has failed to mobilise the huge hydraulic resources in the state is unable to pursue the Popular demand of the common people of the state to hand over at least two of existing power projects owned by NHPC to the state has accentuated the existing power crises in the state.
Moreover the inadequate transmission system from Jammu to Srinagar has put the unbearable burden on the common people during the winter season especially in the valley.
