Early Times Report
Sunderbani, Mar 25: Police have given up their efforts to trace Sunderbani woman who went missing from Jammu some eight months ago, impelling her mother to appeal to Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti for her personal intervention in the case.
Asha Devi w/o Ashok Kumar and resident of Nallah, Siya Devak in Sunderbani district had come to Jammu for her treatment at Government Medical College, Jammu along with her husband.
After two days of treatment at hospital, the woman went reportedly missing, the complaint of which was lodged by her husband Ashok Kumar at Bakshi Nagar police station.
Sensing foul play, the mother of Asha Devi charged her daughter's in-laws to have done away with her, lodged an FIR against her in-laws at police station Sunderbani.
Eight months since then, no headway hasd been made in the FIR as Asha Devi, whose two siblings were with her old mother, who is herself living in state of extreme distress and poverty.
The wailing mother of Asha Devi while talking to Early Times said that ever since her daughter went missing, she had suspected her husband Ashok Kumar as he had been regularly demanding money from Asha Devi.
"Though I am not sure whether my daughter is alive or not, but I request the government to take cognizance of the matter and help us with some financial support so that I may be able to raise my daughter's children," said her mother. She also charged Ashok Kumar's family to have influenced the investigations.
"I request the Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti to take personnel pain in this case and order a crime branch inquiry in the case so that truth may come out," she said.
