Early Times Report
JAMMU, Mar 25: Union Home Minister announced the appointment of former IB Director Dineshwar Sharma as the Union Government's special representative for Jammu & Kashmir last October. Ever since then, he has been making controversial statements giving the people of the country to understand that the people of Kashmir were the only main "stakeholders" in the state and that the people of Jammu and Ladakh were no factor in the state's political situation.
After October 2017, Sharma visited the state almost half a dozen times and made it loud and clear through his statements that he was concerned more with those who had been challenging the Indian state and bleeding the nation through acts of terror. Never ever, he made a statement which could even remotely suggested that his was a holistic approach and that he considered Jammu & Kashmir like other states of the Union.
So much so, Dineshwar Sharma said that he didn't care for Minister of State for Home Affairs Hansraj Ahir and that he would go only by HM Rajnath Singh, who only recently ordered CM Mehbooba Mufti to drop cases against the 9,730 deadly stome-peltters and seditionists in Kashmir and also allowed the Mufti Government to devise a rehabilitation policy under which each surrendered terrorist would get Rs 6 lakh, a government job and Rs 4000 interest per month and would also get Rs 1 lakh for each surrendered sniper rifle.
The other day, Dineswar Sharma again dumbfounded the nation by making yet another controversial statement. He said he will think if he should engage with Hurriyat and other separatists to find a solution to the so-called Kashmir problem.
"I will think, see whether to push for a dialogue with Hurriyat and other separatist groups," he, according to a report, said. He made this statement in response to a query "whether he was making any efforts to engage with these groups, who have spurned his overtures so far?"
Dineshwar Sharma is only playing with fire in Jammu & Kashmir by exhibiting his love for the separatists and negative attitude towards the people of Jammu and Ladakh. No wonder, the people of Jammu and Ladakh have developed a feeling of contempt for the former IB director.
