While exploring the world of idioms, prov-erbs, and phrases, I encountered with some of them in Hindi as 'Til Ka Tad' in English as 'Much ado about nothing meaning 'Bekar bat ke liye chahal phal', "Thotha Chana Baje Ghana" in English "The empty can rattle the most" and also as "Hollow lentil makes more noise", meaning those who are not capable of delivering talk more. As those vessels which are empty makes a loud sound when struck with something but filled vessels make less sound. This is true in the case of people also. My political consciousness immediately hammered me with a query. Are these phrase were coined for BJP leadership of our state, well in advance by a predictor or astrologer? The fraternity is representing the Jammu region with mighty lot of 25 MLAs and 11 as MLCs in the J&K Legislative Assembly and 11 of this lot is occupying ministerial berths in the state Cabinet.
To arrive at a careful answer, I analyzed the delivery part of this saffron gang regarding promises, commitments, and slogans they were harping upon during election time. As we observe some people are very talkative and go on speaking continuously and such people need not be taken seriously and it applies to our representation also. They are most probably featherbrained people with no sensitivity in their discourse. They do not give much thought to what they are talking. Such people are devoid of action also and when we view the delivery of our representatives in respect of Jammu region with visual acuity nothing seems positive. When we sermon in terms of their common delivery, they always bravado consistently that they will do this and that. This kind of people is usually cunning and is proficient in kidding the people. The forecast, jubilations, and trumpet calls that were the order of the day of BJP with in Jammu, have desperately disappeared and stand replaced as appeasement for its alliance partner at the cost of sell out of their conscious by double crossing the Jammuities. For over six decades, the BJP had been capitalizing the Jammu thought by crying hoarse over the so-called discrimination, deprivation and neglect but since they came to power as alliance partner, they are just behaving as if they have smelt a snake. The party clinched the seats numbering 25 in Jammu region by promising to further the interests of the province but it has given up on everything it stood for. We well remember the exhibition of mind set of BJP as appeasement of Kashmir centric politics and particularly PDP now in present dispensational set up, when in June 2016, Dy.CM (BJP) adopted 'Charar-e-Sharief' in Budgam district of valley for development, the constituency represented by PDP, forgetting that shrine itself is self contained for its development. None of such places concerning Hindu/Muslim/Sikh/Christians in Jammu region carry such concern for DY CM or any one from PDP. Is it not appeasement? How the mighty Dy.CM faced the wrath of people when on 23 September 2017, he was heckled by a large gathering of people for his complete failure to honor the sentiments of Jammuities regarding holiday of Maharaja Hari Singh's birthday. Is it not rejection of BJP ministers by PDP? BJP won the last election in Jammu because of it riding on the shoulders of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The People exhibited blind faith in high voltage drama of Modi who committed to lay his hands on the most painful part of Jammuities concern and they voted in his name, not for the candidates who contested the election. Appears Modi too had distanced himself from his boastful commitments towards Jammu region and his interlocutor for J&K is also in line for appeasement of Valleyities only. Where have perished the one-time settlement for refugees from Pakistan occupied Kashmir of 1947, 1965 and 1971, measures for sustenance and livelihood of the West Pakistan refugees, and extension of all benefits accruing to the people living on the Line of Control (LoC) to the people living on the international border, secure a share in the profits of NHPC emanating from Jammu and Kashmir's waters, make the families of the victims in cross border firing to qualify for benefits given under SRO 43, construct shelters in vulnerable areas on the LoC and the International Border to prevent loss of life, constitute a delimitation Commission for the delimiting of Legislative Assembly Constituencies as required by law, institute a system of criteria based allocation of financial resources across all 3 regions, where is model 'Basmati' village in Jammu, upgrade all towns with population size class of 30,000 to 99,999 into cities, where are Suchegarh-Samba-Hiranagar border tourism, Katra-Patnitop-Bhadarwah sector, Parmandal-Utterbeni-Surinsar-Mansar sector, Katra-Majalta-Billawar-Basohli sector, Bani-Sarthal-Jhai circuit and Rajouri-Poonch (sevenlakes) sector. Improved power supply throughout the year, adequate provisions of ration in all rural and semi-urban areas on a no-profit and no loss basis, 100% Primary Health Care. Develop Ranjit Sagar, Mansar, and Suruinsar lakes. These mentions do not include the all time agenda of abrogation of article 370. In a nutshell we can well conclude that all these were the day dreams for the Jammuities to exploit their sentiments just to grab the assembly seats in Jammu towards its mission 44+. Instead of delivery, the BJP started keeping people entangled in a very wicked way by engaging them in its propaganda campaigns only such as; 'Vikas Sushasan Sankalap rallies', 'Booth management awareness rallies, Vistrak drives by appointing 'Tri-Shakti' a group of three workers at every booth (it is considered as booth capturing strategy of the BJP), and three main all time propagations as; 'Beti Bachao Beti Padhao' , Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana (PMJDY) (innocent people just opened account having impression of getting 15 lacs as promised by Modi), Swachh Bharat Mission a total failure, Ujjawala Yojna, a mystry yet to be understood by common man. The BJP on the analogy of "Thotha Chana Baje Ghana" have extended its tentacles across country but without delivery and the balloons of its hot air are now crashing to ground day-to-day as seen recently in by-elections of UP and Bihar.
Concluding I can vouch that if one is embroiled in conflict after conflict, bouncing from relationship to relationship, lonely and confused; consider himself above rules and regulations, having no filter for what people in the cultural mainstream consider appropriate for a civilized society, give little or no thought to how his words or actions might affect anyone else, his modus operandi to get attention is with volume rather than brain power and as long as he hold the floor, no one else can be heard, unless get tired, fired, or lonely, he can easily be termed as obnoxious person and our present BJP leaders (Better word is deceiver) falls in the category and deserve to be weeded out from the Jammu, the way most obnoxious 'Parthenium hysterophorus' a species of flowering plant and generally called as 'Congress grass' was weeded out from the scene.
From the above conclusion I was in a position to answer the question in positive that the idioms mentioned in the beginning of my writing may have been coined in advance for BJP in Jammu as BJP representation quite fit in the frame of these idioms. |
