Juggernaut Losing Ground
Sahil Bhat3/25/2018 11:11:08 PM
The recent bypolls results of UP and Bihar served a big blow to the BJP making it unenviable to settle on the ceremonial chair of sovereign. Apparently, of all the participated seats, Gorakhpur defeat - registered an impression of poor planning and showcased the advent of rainy days for the Saffron Party. Does the saffron brigade find it difficult to continue its relentless rule outlined with the perspective of delivering achhe din. Well the picture in the public discourse quiet elucidates the story - TDP's withdrawn support rises questions, also Shiv Sena stills finds hard to come on the same page in many instances.
I still remember 2013 campaigning, people abandoning entertainment, switch their television sets to MODI SPEECH. Hagiography can be understood with catchphrases like HAR HAR MODI GHAR GHAR MODI; ABKI BAAR MODI SARKAR and many more. His status was elevated to God. Some said on his shoulder BJP also got life. However, this time that sprit and vigor doesn't seem to run in the veins of populace. Perhaps, we all are subject to that prolonged redundancy of bogus in the name of promises propelled over us for votes. His speeches have become sick and tired owing to the unfulfilled pledges and false vows that flip-flop the choice of voters across the country.
Let's speak of jobs first. The unemployment rate in India registered a slight increase since the BJP took the charge. It had drifted to 5 percent in 2015-16 from 4.5 percent in 2013-14 of labour force. BJPs professed emphasis on 10 million jobs, before coming to power, fails to put an impressive knock, for statistics don't bear optimism. According to the labour bureau figures, only 1.35 lakh jobs were created in eight labour-intensive sectors in 2015, compared 9.3 lakh jobs created in Congress regime in 2011. The latest Economic Survey, based on data from the labour ministry, stated - the sluggish Employment Growth.
Apart from job, BJP's lost on Gorakhpur seat, home seat of CM - Yogi Adityanath, to the SP by the margin of 21,961 votes, defines the lost faith among the masses for the government. Many comment - didn't make a difference to BJP - they're celebrating the 10th Rajya Sabha victory seat from Uttar Pradesh defeating the same combo SP +BSP. But genuinely, it appears Rajya Sabha is a different battleground where people do not elect representatives. Also, it appears poles apart from the thunderous existence of saffron party when it emerged victorious in 2014.
Moreover, story of Rajasthan where Vasundra Raje holds the power was left shell shocked by aggressive campaign by Congress led Sachin Pilot who scored the surprising numbers of 700, 000 voters for Congress. His political rallies in the remotest corner of state for last three and a half year got him in the shape. The National leadership also admits there must be a 'severe talk' within Rajasthan Unit and state government.
What comes as a massive surprise is TDP at the loggerheads with the government. It's not only the special status but question arises - was that enough to split the years old bond. Now government excuses it's good for party growth in Andra Pradesh.. Franky, one cannot escape from truth - that is BJP has got weaker in its existence. Perhaps it might touch the victory line in 2019 Lok Sabha elections, the celebrations will not cover the rumbling extravaganza.
