| CM calls PDP meeting to take call on alliance with BJP | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Apr 12: Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti has called a special meeting of her party legislators on Saturday to discuss the fallout of the Asifa case and to take call on continuing alliance with the BJP.
Sources said all PDP legislators have been asked to attend the meeting. Invitation letters to this effect were sent Thursday with clear instructions that all have to attend the crucial meeting.
"There is a growing concern in the party about the fallout of Asifa case especially as it has been blown out in media especially Kashmir-based media with twisted facts. The CM is extremely worried and nervous on its fallout and if it will be prudent to take call at this juncture on continuing the alliance," said the sources.
They said the issue was discussed by her with the Home Minister Rajnath Singh in New Delhi, where Singh reportedly told her that while neither the BJP nor the Central government had any role in the case she is free to take a call.
"The party high command also categorically told the CM that at no point did the BJP support the accused. But on the contrary her tweets defamed the BJP and now she is free to take a call," said the sources.
The sources said that while there is division among party members on call it quit there is also a section in the party which believes that CM has failed to frame the issue and in her eagerness to be seen more than sensitive to the Kashmiris' has hit a wall herself and only she is to be blamed for it.
"It was case of gruesome murder of innocent. The accused should have been arrested and proper challan filed in the court. But it's her and her minister who with the tweets just blew off all the good work," said the sources. |
