Tara meets Rahul for Mir's presidentship
4/12/2018 11:13:36 PM
Early Times Report

Jammu, Apr 12: Amidst speculations that G A Mir is likely to be replaced as president of the state congress, former Deputy Chief Minister Tara Chand called on AICC president Rahul Gandhi at New Delhi and sought continuation of the incumbent PCC chief. According to the sources in Congress , Tara Chand claimed that G A Mir was the only face acceptable to all three regions of the State and the party was united under his leadership.
While seeking continuation of Mir as PCC president, sources said that Tara Chand was conscious enough to ensure that his mentor Ghulam Nabi Azad may not feel annoyed over his lobbying for the former, who is not in good books of the later.
Well aware of the fact that Rahul Gandhi can not afford to relieve Mr Azad, sources said that Tara Chand played the trick of seeking installation of Ghulam Nabi Azad as new PCC president and if the same was not possible, let Mir continue.
Besides, sources said, the former Dy CM is also understood to have listed some grievances against PCC senior vice-president Sham Lal Sharma claiming that he along with some other senior Congress leaders in Jammu and Kashmir were being ignored.
Even as Rahul Gandhi gave a patient hearing to Tara Chand, the former did not assure to consider any of his suggestion, sources added.
Meanwhile, Congress sources further said that both G A Mir and Sham Lal Sharma are camping in New Delhi for finalization of the new District and Block presidents in Jammu Kashmir. The lists have already been prepared and after the approval of Rahul Gandhi, the same are likely to be made public in next two-days, sources added.
