Early Times Report
JAMMU, Apr 12: What is the Government of India's special representative Dineshwar Sharma, former Director Intelligence Bureau, up to? Each time he speaks, he creates difficulties for the nation in J&K. it was he who, according to reports, recommended amnesty to 1000s of dreaded stone-pelters and Over Ground Workers and the result is there for everyone to see. It was he who reportedly recommended freedom to separatists like Syed Ali Shah Geelani, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and Yasin Malik and what they did after getting full freedom is too well-known. They only fomented more trouble by instigating anti-Indians.
As if all this was not enough, Dineshwar Sharma has said that every body is a stakeholder in J&K. "Why is everyone here after my meeting with separatists? Everybody is a stakeholder in Kashmir," Sharma has said.
India is not a banana republic. It is an independent and sovereign country. Only the nation is a stakeholder in J&K like it is a stakeholder in all other states and Union Territories. It is the fundamental duty of New Delhi to defend its borders and protect and promote its sovereign interests. No individual, whosoever he or she may be, can't be a stakeholder.
People are stakeholders but in the governance of the state. They elect their government at regular intervals and they have the right to boot out the government so elected, if it fails to deliver or fails to respect the people's mandate. They have every right to change the government that they elect, but not the right to challenge the institution of the state. Those who challenge the institution are, according to Indian Penal Code, are considered seditionists or anti-nationals.
Union Home Minister needs to take care of Dineshwar Sharma whose statements are unsettling the settled in J&K.
