Mandi people stage protest for GDC

Poonch, Apr 14: After the announcement by the goverment for establishment of new govt degree college in Jammu division ,civil society from all the corners of tehsil Mandi held a protest demonstration at tehsil Mandi under the leadership of advocat Aftab Ahmed Ganai.
They also constituted the joint action committee which lanched agitation and said it will continue till the govt sanctioned degree college in tehsil Mandi. In todays protest many people from all walks of life gathered at mini bus stand Rajpura and held a protest for the demand of degree college and there after they held a rally from Rajpura to main bus stand Mandi.
Aftab Ahmed Ganai convener of JAC Mandi said that after the introduction of the right to education act govt is bond to provide quality education to the students of tehsil Mandi, the govt needs to consider providing regular support for higher education in this far flung area of Mandi with a population of more then 1 lack and mostely comprises of lower economic class families except this Mandi having five govt higher secondary schools with more then two thousands students enrolled. The JAC committee decided that if govt will fulfill the long pending demand for degree college with in a week then JAC will take back its protest if not then a wide spread protest will be held in tehsil Mandi in comming days during protest Tehsildar Mandi on the behalf of deputy commisinor Poonch had assured to the JAC that there pending demand will be soon addressed at the govt level. After the assurance of Tehsildar Mandi the JAC along with the people of Mandi gave up their protest with a warning to the administration that after time given to the district administration if the demand is not fulfill than a large protest in which complete Mandi Bandh call will be given and protest will continue.
The Adv Aftab Ganai thanked the people of Mandi specially the youth and the students of Mandi who have made this protest a success and also thanked chairman labour union,president students federation, president youth civil society, youth Ghulamaan e Mustafa, civil society Mandi,youth development forum Mandi for participation.
