Probe into Kulgam sex scandal going at snail's pace SIT yet to submit report 4/15/2018 12:30:02 AM Saahil Suhail Early Times Report anantnag, Apr 14: Investigation by the police into Kulgam sex scandal that surfaced two months ago is moving at a snail's pace. The Special Investigative Team (SIT) constituted by SSP Kulgam in February hasn't submitted its report yet, official sources told Early Times. They said that investigation into the case is going on at very low pace due to reasons best known to the higher-ups of the department. SSP Kulgam Sridhar Patil, however, said that the SIT has "almost completed" the investigation. "90 percent of the investigation into the case has been completed by the SIT. It will mostly likely submit its report next week," he said. The SSP said they have expedited efforts for arresting more people involved in the scam. When asked whether the SIT had established involvement of politicians and police officers in the sex racket as claimed by the victim earlier, the officer refused to divulge details. "It is not appropriate to tell you at this point of time," he said. In February, a teenager girl rescued by the police from Banihal area of Jammu alleged that she was raped and forced into prostitution. The girl from Kulgam in South Kashmir alleged that she was sexually exploited by some influential people and that there exists a big sex racket that has connections within and outside of the Valley. Her revelations in a video clip went viral on social media. The girl had said that she was lured into the racket by some locals and later handed over to the pimps who were operating with the help of top men in politics and police. She said that the sex ring was operating under the patronage of politicians and bureaucrats. The girl claimed that pimp of the racket, currently in custody, was in touch with a lawmaker of the ruling PDP.
