Mendhar, Apr 14: In a gruesome violation of norms and carelessness, a patient in SDH Mendhar supposed to be operated upon for appendicitis was given anesthesia on the table and doctors started to make cuts but suddenly they came to know that there was no oxygen cylinder at their disposal in the OT, sources said here today.
Sources said a patient Shahid Ahmed Khan JE in PHE (Mechanical Wing) in Sub division Mendhar was admitted in SDH at 7 am for operation of appendicitis.
When doctors did not came out of operation theatre for three to four hours the family members of the Shahid began to inquire about the matter. They came to know that operation of Shahid had begum but doctors had to stitch him again as the oxygen was not available in the operation theatre.
The took the patient in same condition to Poonch Hospital on ambulance where he was subjected to be operated.
But when they reached there the operation theatre was closed. Any how CMO was informed and he made the operation theatre open While talking to Early Times a relative of Shahid, Akhter Rasool said it was sheer violation of norms on the part of Medicos who operated the patient without confirming that oxygen was available or not without it how can doctors operate a person? Meanwhile Chief Medicial Officer Poonch Dr. Mumtaz Bhatti said that an enquiry into the matter be initiated and the persons responsible for the negligence will be dealt with iron hands. He said nobody will be spared who intend to play with the lives of patients. |
