| PWD contractor uses 'sub standard' material in road construction | | | MS Nazki

Poonch, Apr 24: A contractor of public works department sub division Mendhar is allegedly using sub standard material in allied works on Sakhi Maidan Kalai Road and local doubt that a 20 meter long bridge which is also under construction at 18th km on the road use of sub stand material cannot be ruled out, sources said here today. Source said a vital link 20 mt long span bridge being constructed on Sakhi Maidan Kalai Road near 18th Km in Mendhar the contractor may be using sub standard material locals alleged that he allied works on the road were witnessed them locals said and other sub standard material was used by the contractor with impunity
Source said the contractor was allotted a work of bridge construction and allied works of the road Rs 7 lakh but due to unholy nexus of concerned JE and the contractor use of local substandard material galores to make the fortunes.
When contacted AEE PWD Sub division Mendhar Sarfaraz Ahmed told Early Times that i was monitoring the slab work of bridge myself along with other technical staff and I want to make it clear that there was no use of sub standard material in the construction work of 20mt along span bridge.
May be the contractor has used local sand on the allied works of road, have surely and certainly an inquiry will be initiated into the matter and till then the payment of the contractor will not be released, Sarfaraz maintained.
Meanwhile local social activist Mushtaq Ahmed has appealed the DDC poonch to take action against the contractor. |
