Bovine smugglers meet in police post!
4/24/2018 11:09:59 PM
Early Times Report
JAMMU, Apr 24: A Police Post in Jammu-Samba-Kathua Range on Sunday was used as a secret meeting point to find out ways and means in extending all possible support to those involved in the illegal trade of bovine smuggling.
Sources informed Early Times that two Station House Officers (SHOs), one Police Post (PP) Incharge besides their henchmen were part of the coterie who attended the meeting which lasted till late night.
"A lavish dinner was also arranged for the occasion. As soon as the meeting attended, the participants not only ate but also gulped several pegs of whiskey before leaving the venue," said sources.
"The food and liquor served after the meeting was arranged by a lobby of bovine smugglers. The message for the meeting was received at the PP only a day earlier and only those cops were invited who are associated in one way or the other with the network of bovine smugglers," added sources.
Sources further said that the meeting was necessitated because several transfers in police department were made in the recent past due to which bovine smugglers got perplexed. The bovine smugglers told their hidden helpers in police to hold a meeting and chalk out new strategies so that their illegal trade doesn't get disturbed due to changed scenario.
Sources said that though nobody above the rank of SHO was invited for the meeting but several high ranked officers were well aware that a meeting is going to take place in the said PP on Sunday night.
"During the meeting, the two SHOs and PP Incharge held detailed deliberations wherein they chalked out the future course of action for extending a helping hand to the bovine smugglers. It was decided that some vehicles carrying bovines will be allowed to move on while few will be seized so as to give an impression that extra vigil is maintained in dealing with the bovine smugglers and to avoid the suspicious eyes of the senior officers," said sources.
Sources said the meeting also decided that the whole exercise of providing logistical support to the bovine smugglers should be done in a secret manner so that the officer, who has been recently posted in the area, does not know anything adding that new routes of smuggling and short cuts for the same were also finalized during the meeting.
