Flood relief in remote LoC village still awaited

Rajouri, Apr. 30: Victims of 2014 flood residing in Peryali village situated near Line of Control (LoC) in Rajouri district, where several houses were damaged, are still waiting for rehabilitation.
This was disclosed by the affected families before Dr. Shahid Iqbal Choudhry, DDC who today visited several border villages in Gambhir sector in Manjakot tehsil.
Taking strong note of the pendency, DDC Rajouri directed revenue staff to prepare a list of all the affected families within 48 hours.
"All the victim families of 2014 floods will be rehabilitated and rehabilitation work will be started within one week, which will involve re-construction of houses to be completed in a month" said DDC.
He also met with some mine victims of the area and directed revenue staff to prepare a detailed list of victims so that they can be given suitable compensation.
Dr Shahid Iqbal Choudhary today conducted an extensive tour of villages along Line of Control where he interacted with local people who apprised him about their problems related to water scarcity, power supply, road connectivity and education sector.
The locals demanded development of peryali top as tourist spot, informed about drying up natural water sources, enhancement in road connectivity, shortage of teachers in government schools, attachments of employees etc.
In a 'Gram Sabha' held at Peryali DDC issued directions for road connectivity with border road, developing of 12 water resources in the catchment area including construction of reservoirs and installation of hand pumps.
Important to mention that the inhabitants of Kaila and Kalas Mohallas (about 25 families) in Panjagrain-B panchyat in the area paying Rs30,000 per month to a Tata Mobile vehicle owner to provide them water on daily basis.
He also directed education officials to prepare detail project report for the repair of damaged rooms( in 2014) at high school at Naika.
