Kulgam sex scandal: Victim's family 'unhappy' with police probe
4/30/2018 11:56:16 PM
Saahil Suhail
Early Times Report
anantnag, Apr 30: The family of victim of 'Kulgam sex scandal' on Monday said that they were not happy with the investigation conducted by the police.
The victim's father told Early Times that police hasn't yet arrested a Jammu-based hotelier and a police officer involved in the scam.
"We aren't satisfied with the investigation conducted by police so far as it hasn't arrested the hotelier and SHO," he said.
He said he is continuously pleading before the police authorities to speed-up the investigation and arrested all those involved in the crime.
Advocate Irshad Ahmad, the family's counsel, said that police is investigating the case at very slow pace.
"We requested for court monitored probe earlier but it didn't happen because of the adverse situation. It apparently seems that police is trying to hush-up the case," he said.
Advocate Irshad said that police has ignored a major part of the case during its investigations.
"The case has multiple occurrences. As per the statement of victim she was trafficked to Jammu illegally and raped there in a hotel by the hotelier and a police officer but the police have ignored this part as the hotelier wasn't even questioned," he said.
The victim's lawyer said that slow investigation by the police will help accused to destroy evidences.
The Kulgam police in its charge-sheet submitted earlier this month has said that it hasn't completed its investigation and will submit a supplementary charge-sheet in the court of law.
As reported earlier, the investigation by the police Kulgam sex scandal, that surfaced two months ago, is moving at a snail's pace.
Kulgam police has constituted a Special Investigative Team (SIT) after a Early Times report. However the SIT has failed to identify the police officer who raped the teenager girl in a hotel in Machi-Market area of Jammu.
The SIT has also failed to arrest the hotelier identified by the victim as 'Chotuoo' and hasn't even taken any action against the hotel named by the victim in which she, as per her statement said, was raped multiple times.
In the month of February, a teenager girl- rescued by the police from the Banihal area of Jammu alleged that she was raped and forced into prostitution.
The girl alleged that she was sexually exploited by some influential people and that there exists a big sex racket that has connections within and outside of the Valley.
Her revelations in a video clip went viral on social media. The girl had said that she was lured into the racket by some locals and later handed over to the pimps who were operating with the help of top men in politics and police.
She said that the sex ring was operating under the patronage of politicians and bureaucrats. The girl claimed that pimp of the racket, currently in custody, was in touch with a lawmaker of ruling People's Democratic Party.
Kulgam police had already registered an FIR No 27/2018, U/S 363,120B, RPC at police station Kulgam and taken by investigation by constituting a SIT.
Five involved in the sex scam including the pimp and her daughter are currently in judicial custody.
