Early Times Report
Jammu, Apr 30: As the security forces have intensified their operations against the terrorists operating in Kashmir, the ultras in order to make their presence felt by targeting the political workers.
During the past one week the terrorists have targeted two BJP leaders. Last week a BJP leader was shot dead in broad daylight in south Kashmir's Pulwama town. After attacking the leader, the terrorists also decamped with the weapons of two guards who were guarding them. Both the guards were also wounded in the attack.
On late Sunday evening ultras appeared at Alochibagh in uptown Srinagar and fired upon another young BJP activist from a close range. The activist is battling for his life in a hospital.
An official while talking to Early Times said, "There are inputs that militants have managed to sneak into Srinagar city and they are looking for soft targets. We are reviewing the security of the politicians and the political activists."
An analyst said that during the past 27-years terrorists have killed scores of political activists affiliated with the mainstream parties. "Whenever security forces have tightened their noose around the terrorists they have struck back by hitting the soft targets," he added.
He said that since the day PDP and BJP have formed the coalition government in Jammu and Kashmir terrorists have declared a war against the leaders and activists of both the parties. "PDP has provided enough security to its leaders but the BJP workers have been ignored and have been just provided with one or two armed policemen," the analyst added.
He said that the so-called champions of the human rights, the separatists, which include Hurriyat hawk Syed Ali Shah Geelani, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and so-called JKLF chief Yasin Malik have maintained silence over these killings. "They have not even mustered courage to sympathize with their bereaved families," he said. "On the contrary if the terrorists are killed they call for shutdown and protests and disrupt the normal life."
A politician said, "People of Kashmir should understand that Pakistan is using them against their own people. The young boys have been brainwashed and trained to kill their own people. On the other hand the life span of these young boys has been shortened as security forces hunt them and eliminate them. Pakistan and its stooges have triggered a civil war in Kashmir and the people of Kashmir are the worst sufferers."
He said, "If people of Kashmir don't stop supporting terrorists and the separatists they can lose their another generation to senseless violence. They need to realize that for Pakistan and its agents Kashmiris are nothing more than pawns and canon-fodder."
