JK Police thrashes Khalsa warriors to lift trophy

Jammu, Apr 30: In the final match played today between J&K Police and Khalsa Warriors Amritsar, both the teams started cautiously but soon after one goal scored by J&K police in the 10th minute of the game Picked the momentum. J&K police got the first penalty corner but they could not score. On the other hand Khalsa Warriors played very attacking game and levelled the score within 2 minutes. At half time both the teams were locked at 1 goal each. Khalsa warriors team was full of young and upcoming players whereas J&K police team was a blend of young and senior players. Blend of seniors and young prevailed over youth of khalsa worriers by scoring winning goal in the dying minutes of the game and won the match.
The match was officiated by M.R karanjeet Singh and S. Jageet Singh Godly with tournament director shri. Dalbir Metha.
The tournament was conducted under the patronage of Sant Tejwant Singh of Dera Sant Pura Danna for the consecutive 5th year.
S. Jarnai l Singh of Peaks auto ltd. was the chief guest and he was accompanied by S T.S Wazir President state gurudwara parbandak board,. S. T.S Wazir, Sh Zorawar Singh Sectretary Press Club and Sh Ranjeet Kalra Vice Chairman Sports Council J&K. While addressing the gathering advised the players to choose their profession in the sports of their choice. He also reminded that Asian Style of Hockey was more pleasing to the eyes of the spectators as compared to European style of Hockey.
Sant Tejwant Singh also highlighted the importance of sports in the present scenario where number of youth are attracted toward drugs. In the closing ceremony all the dignotaries congratulated the winning team and the runner up as well. A Cash prize of 31000, was presented to the winning team and a cheque iof 21,000, was given to the runners up. Monentos were also presented to those who have given significant contribution for the success of the tournament are S. Balvinder Singh RTI Activist, S. Rajinder Singh Soodan, Ravi Singh ( Sports Council), Ashok Singh (sports Council), S. Harvinder pal Singh, S. Janak Singh, Sh AzatShatru, Mrs Sandeep Kour, S. Waryam Singh, S. Iqbal Singh, S. M S Reen, S. Jagpaul Singh, S. Indpal Singh (S.I). Prominent among others were S. Amrik Singh Sason, S. Avtar Singh Khalsa, S. Narinder Singh Khalsa, S. Swaran Singh ARTO, Varinder Singh youth leader PDP, S. Manmohan Singh, S Sharanjit Singh Shunty, S. Ranjot Singh Nalwa, S. Ravinder Singh.
