Poonch, Apr 30: Tata Sumo travel agents are looting the gullible passengers by charging exhorbitant rates in Mendhar from where the tata sumos ply for poonch, Surankote, Rajouri Jammu and Srinagar routes respectively source said here today.
There has been no check on these agents who loot the gullible passengers in the name of fare by asking them to pay for such and such route according to their will. Source said that the agents charge also commission from the vehicle owner for plying their vehicle from Mendhar where as the fact remains that the space belongs to Govt Bus stand Mendhar who are then agents to charge commission?
As the pratice has been going on under the very nose of ARTO Poonch, who perhaps may have been hand in glove with these agents they added. Displaying of rate list for different routes should be made mandatory they further added. While talking to Early Times SDM Mendhar Dr Tanveer Khan said that he has received some complaints from the people in this regard. I will ask the ARTO to take serious note the complaints and make sure that rate lists with authorised signature are displayed respectively in all vehicles besides the agent culture should be curbed there and then so that gullible public is not humilated, Dr Tanveer added |
