Floriculture deptt keeps VIPs happy in Gandhi Nagar, forgets lone park in Krishna Nagar
End VIP culture, pay attention towards common man!

Early Times Report
JAMMU, May 1: The Floriculture department has ensured to keep VIPs putting up in Gandhi Nagar happy by maintaining the parks on day to day basis, on the other hand a lone park at Krishna Nagar (Ward 12 of Jammu Municipal Corporation) meant for common people has been facing official apathy.
The official neglect can be gauged from the fact that a gardener deployed for maintenance of the park was called back by the department concerned six months ago.
The park, despite having sufficient area, is lacking in proper up-keeping as the grass is getting dried due to lack of availability of water due to which the flowers plants, ornamental plants and other trees in the park are fading away.
"There was a gardener for the park but he was called back by the Floriculture department due to which maintenance of garden has suffered a lot. The park was created by JMC during NC-Congress government but later it was handed over to Floriculture department," said Ashok Sharma, president Krishna Nagar Mohalla Committee.
He said that recently officials of Floriculture department had made estimate for developing the park and the proposal has been submitted to the Director.
Sunil Sharma, Mohalla Committee member said that in absence of department's assistance, the people of the area raise funds for the maintenance of park. The Floriculture department has been showing reluctance to provide assistance by the giving reason that the park doesn't belong to the department as it officially belong to JMC due to which department has its limits.
Recently the Mohalla Committee visited the Green Belt Park to understand the method for better maintenance of the park but the reason behind the contrast difference was obvious as there was huge man power for its up-keeping deployed by the Floriculture department.
Anil Angral, another Mohalla Committee member, informed the Early times that they requested the JMC for conducing thermal fogging in the garden as mosquitoes have been posing threats to the local residents who come to park for jogging.
"In order to get any work done for the welfare of the area, the political back is very important and without it nobody in the department listens to our problems," Anil said. He said that the ward consists of 10,000 souls and the collective effort of the people of area is required for maintaining it.
