Patwaris begins indefinite strike in support of long pending demands

Kishtwar, May 14: Kishtwar Patwar Association under the banner of All Jammu and Kashmir Patwar Association today begins its indefinite pen down strike in Kishtwar District while similar pen down strike was aobserved across the state today and the protest demonstrations were also held at all districts of the state. The call for the strike was given by the association after government 'failed to respond to their demands. The strike will badly affect working in Revenue department.
As per the details available with "Early Times", the District Unit of Patwar Association Kishtwar under the President ship of its District President Nisar Butt sit on day long protest at New DC office complex Kishtwar added that the pen down strike will remain continue till the government did not accept the demands. He said that the strike is in support of their long pending genuine demands which government fails to fulfill despite repeated request.
Nisar Butt alleged that the state Government has turned deaf ears towards the long pending demands of Patwar fraternity. He said that the association has warned the state Government that if their demands are not considered at an earliest, the strike may be extended and could be for indefinite period.
A large number of Patwaries and Girdawars of District Kishtwar participated in the pen down strike.
The speakers impressed upon the Govt to redress the demands at an earliest so that the general public may not suffer more.
Speaking to Early Times, Majid Hassan Kichloo said that the demands including enhancement of Grade pay from Rs. 2400 to Rs. 2800 for graduate Patwaries, timely DPC of Patwaries and GQ's, creation of GQ circles/Patwar Halqas, ban of direct recruitment of NT and increase in allowances.
"When the deployments of the patwaris was made, at that time the Grade pay wrote in Advertisement has been written as Rs. 2800 but after deployment their grade pay changed to Rs. 2400" Said the agitating Patwaris added that in another departments as far as graduates level is concern, the grade pay is Rs. 2800.
They demanded that the state government should sanction grade pay of Rs. 2800 in their favour instead of Rs. 2400. They rued that DPC is to be done after 6 months but in the instant case, even after three years no Patwari's DPC has been cleared or any promotion has been made.
