7/1/2018 10:21:34 PM
Early Times Report
JAMMU, July 1: National Mazdoor Conference (NMC) President Subash Shastri appealed to Prime Minister Narendra Modi to release of pending installment of DA due from July 1, 2018 in favor of Central and state governments employees and pensioners.
Shastri said in a memorandum sent to PM Modi, they appealed PM to announce the release of 2% DA due from July 1, 2018 in favor the employees and pensioners of Central and state governments in view of increasing inflation and price hike of essential commodities. The price index which was 5.90 per cent in Decmber31, 2017 stands at 10.75 in June 30, 2018 and urged him take decision in this regard at the forth coming union cabinet meeting.
"The rate of compensation was revised every six month bases on average of the consumer price index for previous months and this would be 5th biannual increase since the implementation of the recommendations of the 7th pay commission," he added. He further said prices of all essential commodities have gone up so there was no justification on the part of the Central Government for withholding this installment for their employees and pensioners.
He further appealed PM to immediately accept the recommendation of the committee headed by Union Finance Secretary Ashok Lavasa in which the committee has recommended minimum pay scale of the lower class employees to Rs 21,000 per month. He hoped that Central Government will accept this recommendation of the committee at the earliest.
He demanded enhancement of the wages of daily rated workers to Rs 500 per day. He urged the NDA Government to implement the same throughout the country simultaneously so that working class would get sigh of relief from rising price and inflation. "Total exemption of DA under income tax, enhancing income tax limit to Rs 5 lakh and setting up of National Wage Commission for evolving national pay policy thorough out the country were other demands highlighted in the memorandum", he informed.
