Omar Abdullah forgets his own misadventures of 2014 floods!
Takes dig at PDP-BJP alliance, faces public fury, eats humble pie
7/1/2018 11:15:52 PM
Early Times Report
srinagar, July 1: Unmindful of how his government failed even to evacuate people during the devastating floods of 2014, when he was the Chief Minister, National Conference President and former CM Omar Abdullah is now blaming his successors for prevalent flood threat in Kashmir.
"What was the PDP-BJP government doing after the devastating floods of 2014? What happened to the dredging of the Jehlum? Why was the carrying capacity of the flood channel not increased? Where did the money go?" Omar Abdullah tweeted.
The tweet was enough to make people react and take a dig at the Abdullahs.
"What was your government doing before 2014 to get proper flood channels and flood control measures done may I ask and get an answer to this question or as usual pass it on @OmarAbdullah," replied one @Faisalmajeedwa5.
Another netizen Prateek Shukla on handle @ipratikshukla said: "They were only following footsteps of previous NC Govt."
A retired BSF official had more to add. Bhola Nath IG BSF (Retd) operating from handle
@BholaNath_BSF asked Omar how was feeling on his highland Gupkar road where there is no flood threat. "U can always raise finger on govt in failing to handle Jhelum floods. Not dredging it will not b the only only reason for this flood! Jumping to press trigger is not good habbit @OmarAbdullah ji. Let flood waters come down then raise ur political battle. How is Gupkar Rd?(sic)," the retired official asked.
Mohammad Ayoub Dar on handle @Darayoub7 said: "May i ask what have you done all those years you were in power? Politicians exploit amnesia of the people and somehow we let thugs like you to manipulate and exploit us. Kashmir is a failed state and you are as much responsible as @jkpdp if not more."
Interestingly Omar wasnt seen reacting.
For the last two days the people of Kashmir are up in arms against the tow main regional parties -the PDP and the NC accusing leaders of both the parties of fleecing Kashmir for personal gains.
The locals have been appealing Governor NN Vohra to call for a CBI probe into the alleged loot committed by the twin parties.
The people believe that unless New Delhi opens cases of corruption against the two families, the situation in Kashmir won't improve and people will continue to be victims of underdevelopment.
