FTCs only ray of hope for rape victims to get speedy justice
7/1/2018 11:11:34 PM
Early Times Report

JAMMU, July 1: Despite framing the stringent laws against the rape incidents, the growth rate of such cases being reported have witnessed a surge in J&K there by taking a heavy toll of the police and courts as they are already overburdened with other matters. The absence of Fast Track Courts (FTCs) envisaged to deliver speedy justice in such cases have compounded the problem further.
With no FTCs in the state, the rape victims are left with no other option but to go through the mental agony of long wait of getting justice. A cross section of the society feel that the sufferings of victims especially rape victims could only be ended if the provision of FTCs takes a final shape in the state. People think that it is high time that the state of Jammu and Kashmir set up FTCs so that the rape victims are able to get justice in time. While the successive state governments are being blamed for not paying attention to the establishment of FTCs, the outcry to make available the comfort of FTCs for the rape victims is slowly but steadily growing.
Zeshan Syed, an Advocate, said that though a large number of people are aware of the utilities of FTCs but still some more needs to be done in this regard. The people of J&K should press for the demand of setting up FTCs in the state.
Qamar Zaman, an Advocate, said that having FTCs in the state is a necessity which needs to be understood by the entire society. The people of the state should not think that only the rape victims are in need of FTCs. People should support the cause with a humanitarian approach. Rape victims require our support and sympathy.
Satyajeet, an Advocate, said that the rape victims continue to suffer as they could not get early justice in the absence of FTCs due to which the ignominy they go through cannot be described in words. Their only ray of hope is establishment of FTCs.
