Bike-borne terrorists fire upon security forces at Pulwama
7/1/2018 10:22:21 PM
Agencies
New Delhi, July 1: Three bike-borne terrorists fired upon a joint naka party of security forces at Sirnoo Road in Pulwama's Dalipora area. Security forces have surrounded the entire area to nab the terrorists. No casualty has been reported so far.
On Friday, one of the three terrorists trapped in the encounter in Thumna in Jammu and Kashmir's Pulwama was killed by the security forces, while the remaining two managed to escape. A 16-year-old youth identified as Faizaan Ahmad Khan lost his life in the clashes after protesters started stone pelting while the operation was underway.
After receiving information about the presence of militants in the area, the army launched a cordon and search operation. According to the media reports, three local militants were holed up inside a house in the locality but the firing was delayed due to presence of civilians on the premises. Once the civilians were evacuated the encounter broke out.
When the news of the encounter spread locals started gathering in the area and started pelting stones at the security forces.
Taking to his Twitter handle, J&K Police chief Shesh Paul Vaid urged the families of terrorists in Kashmir to motivate their sons to shun the path of violence. "Today, once again I urge to the families to appeal to their boys who have taken the wrong path to leave the path of violence & (and) come home," the DGP wrote on Twitter. He also promised all possible assistance, including rehabilitation for terrorists who decide to quit.
