| Border residents resent Irregularities in bunker construction | | |  Arun Trisal

Hiranagar, Oct 24:- A large number of people from Village Bobiya along Zero line International Border at Hiranagar sector today came on the road against pick & choose policy in construction of bunkers. The protest was led by Tirth Singh Ex Sarpanch Bobiya who accused the government of ignoring the actual sufferers and favouring the families who are formally urbanized.
The union government sanctioned construction of bunkers in the lawns of people living along the border after decades. However, the state agencies are constructing bunkers for those who do not need them, the locals said.
Jagdev Singh, Bhajan Singh and Sanjeet Singh pointed out the step-motherly attitude of the construction authority and demanded that they had no place in yards but had open space outside the house. Construction authority refused to construct their bunkers outside their house which triggered resentment among villagers. They demanded bunkers outside the houses who have insufficient space in yards.
Tirth Singh Ex sarpanch demanded bunkers for actual resident of the village, more facilities in individual bunkers, and bunkers outside the house for those who have insufficient space in their houses. He informed that the demand of bunker outside the house was raised before district administration but no action has been taken in this regard.
The local MLA was unaware of the irregularity. He, however, assured the people to take up the matter before competent authority. |
