Early Times Report
UDHAMPUR, Oct 24: The proverb 'Where there's a will, there's a way', fittingly describes the success story of Isha Sharma hailing from village Dhanori of district Udhampur. Overcoming all odds including her economically weak background, Isha Sharma finally achieved the glory and accolades in the form of a medal she won in the national level Taekwondo championship.
Isha, a class 10 student, won a bronze medal in the championship organized by Bharati Vidya Sansthan at Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh recently. She is the first girl from J&K state to win a bronze medal in a national level Taekwondo championship.
Earlier, Isha Sharma won a gold medal in state level Taekwondo championship. With her achievements, Isha has become a role model not only for the girls belonging to district Udhampur but also for the girls of the entire state. By proving her mettle in a national level competition of martial arts, a large number of girls said that the martial art not only gives a sense of security to girls as it is the best form of self protection but it also provides an opportunity to get recognition in the field of sports.
While speaking to Early Times, Isha Sharma said, "I am very happy to attain such success in a national level event. Whatever I have achieved so far is just because of my family's constant support. Though my family's is not well of but still my father, who is only a driver by profession and my mother never discouraged me to take up Taekwondo as a player. Infact, they always encouraged me to excel in the game."
