BAS fails to ensure teachers' attendance in Schools
10/24/2018 10:37:57 PM

Early Times Report
Jammu, Oct 24: The Biometric Attendance System (BAS) installed in various schools has failed to serve the purpose, for which it was adopted, as many blue-eyed teachers have adopted a unique modus-operandi to defeat its purpose. Posted in various government schools, these teachers have still been marking their attendance, at the schools but were working at administrative offices rather than taking classes in the schools, where they were posted.
These blue-eyed include a teacher, whose actual place of posting is High School Badsoo, Dansal but has been performing duties in the ZEO office Dansal. "He had joined the Education department as Rehbar-e-Talim teacher and was later got regularized but has been enjoying attachment at ZEO office Dansal", sources said, adding that the teacher has become so influential that he has been given the incharge of Sarav Shiksha Abhiyaan, charge of building funds beside others.
Sources further said that the teacher was also enjoying the authority for panel recruitment of SSA teachers for various schools.
Another influential teacher is also enjoying attachment at ZEO Dansal office. The actual place of posting of this teacher is High School Dansal but has been working at ZEO office for the last many years. He has been given the charge of establishment section in ZEO office Dansal.
Sources further disclosed that in the ZEO office, all the posts of clerical cadre were filled by regular staff but these influential teachers have created such an atmosphere in the office that without them the working came to standstill. "Such condition has only been created by these teachers so that they would remain posted in ZEO office, where there are many possibilities of making money", sources said.
They further added that every morning these teachers went to their schools and after marking their attendance on biometric attendance system, at their respective schools, returned back to ZEO office. "The Director School Education must take cognizance of the issue and take action against these officials", an official said.
