Training on Sub-Tropical Fruit Crops held

Reasi, Oct 24: In continuation of 35 days skill development training programme on fruit crops, Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), Reasi of Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology of Jammu (SKUAST-J) and Department of Horticulture, Reasi imparted training on "Production technologies in sub-tropical fruit crops" to young aspiring entrepreneurs and farmers here today at Govt. Fruit Plants Nursery, Pouni under the Mission for Integrated Development of Horticulture (MIDH). 22 farmers from different areas of Reasi district enthuastically participated in the programme. The programme was organized under the guidance of Associate Director Extension and Incharge of KVKs of SKUAST-J, Dr.R.K.Arora and Director Horticulture, Jammu Anuradha Gupta. The programme was co-ordinated by Chief Horticulture Officer, Reasi, Vishnukant Gupta. The programme was initiated by Dr. Banarsi Lal, Scientist& Head of KVK, Reasi with the warm welcome of the farmers. He said the farmers that the production of sub-tropical fruits like mango, litchi, aonla, ber, orange, lemon etc. is low in the region although there is an immense potential of sub-tropical fruits crops.
He suggested the farmers that by applying the new scientific technologies they can increase their fruit crops production. He further narrated that farmers should use the improved/hybrid varieties of sub-tropical fruits so that the fruit crops production can be increased. The scientist elaborated the production technologies of sub-tropical fruits and explained the sub-tropical fruit diseases and their remedial measures.
