Gandhi Global Family celebrates United Nations Day

Jammu, Oct 24: United Nations Day 2018 is celebrated by United Nations DPI affiliated peace NGO Gandhi Global Family along with students of Lawrence Public School, Jammu.
The Chief Guest on this occasion was Padamshri Dr. S.P Varma Vice President Gandhi Global Family while the Guest of Honour was Dr. Bishvajeet Roy Convenor Rashtriya Yuva Sangathan Gandhi Peace Foundation. Students welcomed the guests with a colourful display of 193 member countries of the United Nations.
The program started with lighting of the traditional lamp followed by the welcome address by Monica Sharma. Abhiuday Sharma, Divya Bhat, Bhawana Langeh spoke in length about the aims and objectives of the United Nations, the works taken up by it in various countries. Students from the middle school described the roles of specialised agencies FAO, ICAO, IFAD, ILO, IMO, IMF, ITU, UNESCO, UNIDO, UPU, WBG, WHO, WIPO, UNICEF, WMO, WTO and UNIC. A mass UN quiz was conducted by Ankush Kumar National Youth Coordinator GGF in which students participated with enthusiasm.
Under the UN 17 SDG's work safety masks and gloves were presented to the Safai Karamchari's. During his address, Padamshree Dr. S.P Varma emphasised on the importance of connecting youth of the state with United Nations where special focus to be given to those living in LOC, LAC and International border.
