Kathua, Oct 24: Students of Kartar Public School celebrated Valmiki Jayanti today by holding a special assembly.
They presented speeches and skits based on the theme. They recalled that Valimiki is the author of the epic, The Ramayana. Valmiki was a hunter and a dacoit before he turned a sage. The students applauded the genius of Valmiki who composed the Ramayana one of the greatest epics of all time. Speaking on this occasion, Harpreet Kaur, Secretary-cum-Principal said that the Ramayana contains 24,000 slokas, seven cantos and 4, 80,002 words. It is imperative in a pluralistic society to promote secular values and tolerance by celebrating all festivals. |
