Drug peddler held with charas

Jammu, Oct 27: In a joint operation, Police today claimed to have arrested a drug peddler and recovered over 1 kg charas from his possession at Narwal area.
Police spokesman said that today a joint naka of Police Post Narwal and SOG Jammu was established at Rajeev Nagar Jammu for Patrolling/security checking in view of Annual Darbar Move-2018 and meanwhile, a vehicle (Tavera) bearing registration number JKO3C-3145 was stopped for checking purpose, meantime one passenger come down from center seat of the said vehicle and sensing danger of being caught by naka party he tried to run away from spot carrying one polythene bag, making the scenario suspicious.
The naka party over powered the passenger and during the thorough checking of the in possession bag recovered huge quantity of about 1 1/2 kg narcotic substance i.e. Charas.
"On questioning, the drug peddler disclosed his name as Ashok Kumar of Dhanu Chak, Tehsil Akhnoor District Jammu", said spokesman.
The arrest and recovery has been made by SI Varuneshwar Singh-incharge police post Narwal , SOG Nafri , under the supervision of Inspector Parvaiz Sajjad-SHO Bahufort, DySP Vipan Chandran-SDPO East, SP South Vinay Sharma, Sandeep Mehta- SP Oerations under the overall supervision of Vivek Gupta-SSP Jammu.
In this regard a case under FIR No 271/2013 under section 8/20 NDPS Act has been registered at Bahu Fort police station.
