Kishtwar, Oct 27: Following massive row over surfacing of the panchayat election poster in Inderwal depicting NC Vice president Omar Abdullah, the National Conference today distanced itself from it. The poster also depicted former MoS Home and MLC from Kishtwar Sajjad Ahmed Kichloo besides Omar, seeking votes in favour of a candidate from Lohidhar B in Inderwal constituency of Kishtwar District. The poster also carried the photograph of NC leader Payare Lal Sharma who was at the centre of storm after his photograph surfaced in social media celebrating victory of some independent candidates in Thatri along with BJP candidate and some RSS faces. Speaking to "Early Times", National Conference District President Kishtwar Tanveer Ahmad Kichloo said that National Conference has already announced boycott of Panchayat elections and those posters were only to defame the party. He said that some vested interest people are using party and its symbol for garnering voters' sympathy. He warned such people to desist from such activities.
He said that party is taking serious note of the issue and it will file a complaint in this regard. He also warned party rebels from using the party name for personal benefit. He also refuted the reports of fielding proxy candidates in Kishtwar municipality.
He said that some Independent candidates had approach them to form the Municipal committee in Kishtwar by bringing together the like mind people who won the elections. He said that his party is committed to stick to the boycott call given by the party high command.
