| ATM fraudster arrested, several ATM cards recovered | | |  Early Times Report
Banihal, Dec 3: Ramban Police, under the leadership of Anita Sharma SSP, claimed that the the bank robbery case was solved by arresting a notorious professional fraudster and thereby solving several cases of such type.
It is pertinent to mention here that in recent times police received a number of complaints especially from elderly/ illiterate persons regarding misuse of their ATM Cards and thereby duping them of their hard earned money.
Police spokesman said that on receipt of the complaints, a special team headed by Inspector Aijaz Ahmed Wani-SHO Banihal was constituted.
The team under the supervision of Sajjad Sarwar SDPO Banihal and Sanjay Parihar Addl SP Ramban tried to understand the modus operandi of the fraudster through CCTV clips and statements of the victims and finally chalked out a strategy, said spokesman.
"The fraudster used to change his attire every time he committed an offence. He used to dupe the elderly/illiterate persons on the pretext of helping them and thereby swapping the ATM Cards", said spokesman.
He further said that after various failed attempts, the team succeeded in apprehending the accused namely Imran Ahmad Sheikh of Dialgam Anantnag from one of the ATMs at Banihal.
On search of his car various ATM Cards were recovered and during preliminary investigation, he was found involved in one case of Pulwama police station, one case of Pampore police station and one case of Dooru police station.
Further investigation is in progress and his involvement is expected in other areas as well. |
