Early Times Report

Anantnag, Dec 3: In South Kashmir's Anantnag district, Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs Department is allegedly floating norms while distributing and dumping Kerosene Oil at designated depots, Early Times learnt on Monday.
According to officials, privy to the development, the employees of the department don't escort the vehicles (oil tankers) and drivers at their will dump and distribute kerosene oil. According to norms, employees of the department have to escort the vehicle to ensure that oil is dumped properly.
On Saturday late evening, newly elected President of Municipal Committee Aishmuqam Wahid Ahmad Bhat asked the driver of an oil tanker to stop dumping of K-oil in late hours and asked him and the dealers to dump the oil at depots only in the morning, but on Sunday morning he found the vehicle missing.
He claimed that depots that were supposed to get K-oil from this vehicle had already received supply a few days ago.
Vehicles according to documents of agency and department has left at around 4:00pm from Anantnag Food office towards Pahalgam. Before reaching Aishmuqam, the vehicle dumped supply at least at five depots of Pahalgam.
A local dealer, Bilal Habib claimed that he received supply from the same oil-tanker at around 5:00pm.
Assistant Director Food Department Anantnag said that he will visit the area to ascertain the facts; however ET learnt from credible sources that he didn't visit.
An official, who wished anonymity, claimed that Kerosene-oil meant for people goes to Macadam plants and is being sold in black market.
