Early Times Report

Srinagar, Jan 24: A few days after Sheikh Imran, the Deputy Mayor of Srinagar Municipal Corporation here accused the BJP and RSS of getting him attacked during a session at the SMC, some of the councillors accused him of "himself being in touch with the right wing parties." A group of councillors from SMC, who addressed a press conference at the Kashmir Press Club, accused the Deputy Mayor of "doing drama in the name of one centimeter wound on his face."
The cooperators said not only people of Kashmir but "entire nation" should know that the Deputy Mayor was a "Dhongi" and that he was hampering the working at the SMC to meet his political motives.
The councillors said they had contested at the urban local body polls as independent candidates adding that the deputy mayor was trying to "gain mileage through such cheap tactics whereas he was himself in contact with the BJP leaders and had been holding meetings with them."
"Infact on the day when this drama of attack took place we were asking him that how was he in contact with senior BJP leaders and why he meets them, if he pretends to be against them," the councillors said.
Sharing a video with media persons, the councillors said the deputy mayor had done drama over "minor injury" as "he could be heard in the said video asking his supporters not to take video when he was undergoing dressing for the minor wound."
"That video is of the makeup and you can see that yourself," the councillors said. It is pertinent to mention that that video is going viral on social media.
The councillors said they have been facing enough of "drama" and that it was the time to "end frequent undue brawls at the SMC and to let the civic body work as normal."
"Since the day the elected councillors came to power the dhongi group with patronage of three four people has taken the Srinagar city hostage," said the councillors.
It is pertinent to mention here that Sheikh Imram was recently injured during a regular session at the SMC and was rushed to police hospital for treatment.
Imran had accused the BJP and RSS of being responsible for the attack through the Mayor. One of his supporters had also burnt effigy of the Mayor of Srinagar, Junaid Azim Mattoo accusing him of being BJP and RSS backed mayor.
Despite repeated attempts the concerned parties couldn't be contacted for comments.
